"My husband and I finished of the last 4 days of our honeymoon here and had a great time! I was a little nervous because of the crazy remodeling stories on these reviews but the majority of them are drastically exaggerated or dramatic. First off, we were made fully aware that the property was under construction. We received numerous emails about the progress and did the proper research about the resort before booking. So, shame on you people for not paying attention. The valet guys were super attentive and very nice. And the girls we talked to at the front desk were always very helpful. We had a room on the 11th floor and it overlooked the ocean-absolutely beautiful! The room was modern and clean and I loved the bathroom.
The pool was huge and the swim bar really fun for some afternoon drinks. We swam in the ocean a lot and didn't mind the "large waves". Who wants a calm ocean??? Swim in a pool then! The staff at the beach was great too! Everyone we dealt with was super friendly!
The food wasn't bad either. We had breakfast at the buffet and it was pretty good-not gourmet but you're not there for the darn food. We did eat at Sirena as our last night dinner and it was amazing. The tapas were delicious and I had the steak which was cooked to perfection. Well worth the money.
People complained that it was far away from stuff so we were worried until we realized that those people were probably super lazy. There are restaurants within a 5 to 10 minute walk from the hotel. Everything from Chilis to The Meat Market. We had no issues at all walking to restaurants.
The casino was added bonus too. We didn't really plan on spending a lot of time there but it was very generous to us! I won $35 and my husband won $85!
My only complaint was that the construction started a little too early in the room next door to us. It was completely gutted and work began at 7 am-every day. Luckily, we're early risers and were awake at that time but I could see how someone would be bothered by that if they were on vacation. However, we knew there was construction AND we didn't want to spend any extra minutes sleeping when in this beautiful area!
Yes, it was by the airport but we didn't hear planes all night at all. We did hear them during the day but who gets distracted by airplanes?!?? So, yes you could hear them but no, it wasn't deafening nor was it at night.
Great time! We would definitely stay again!"

"The Courtyard is a good choice if you are staying in Puerto Rico. It is very close to the airport, and right on the beach. Our room had a balcony facing the ocean and we ate breakfast & had mimosas out on our balcony every morning! The room was updated and they always did a great job of cleaning it. The location of the hotel is wonderful because there are lots of people walking on the sidewalks, jogging, walking their dogs, etc. We felt safe to go out and walk around. We walked to the local grocery store to get breakfast and snack items for the week to keep in our room.
I will say the restaurant inside the lobby of the Courtyard was a bit disappointing. There just wasn't much variety; I think I ended up getting pasta... who wants pasta when they go to Puerto Rico? Not me. We did go to their restaurant on the patio - Sirena Bar & Tapas for my birthday, and it was excellent! We were able to try some authentic dishes and it was a really romantic setting - on the patio, right by the ocean, candles on the table.
The thing I liked about the Courtyard was that it wasn't very crowded. In fact, one night my fiancé and I had one of the pools to ourselves! The downside - it is right by the airport so you could hear planes go by while you were on the beach, so if you want somewhere quiet, this is not the place."

Room Tip: Get a room with a balcony facing the ocean - so beautiful!

"Easy access from de airport , not busy at all in front of the beach and now they remodel all the conveniences and rooms, really are new again ! For me is complete all! Something you can get good price , but normally is not chipper. But is a standard Marriot services."

Pros:

1) Awesome location - right next to the airport and has beach access
2) Great resort amenities - private beach, casino, swimming pool, hammocks, bar, 4 restaurants, food and drink service to the beach, pool, casino and room
3) Excellent room maintenance - we had severe bug bites causing rashes and reported to the front desk, Terminix service came in the same day, did a complete inspection of the room and gave us a detailed report. The hand shower had some issues, was fixed within an hour.
4) Exceptional customer care - The staffs went out of the way to make the stay comfortable for us. The restaurant staffs were very attentitve and kept asking us for ways to improve the service. The staffs were very empathetic for wheelchair needs and even helped use the beach and pool in a safe manner.
5) Renovated rooms, lovely ambiance, good parking facilities (valet and self-service)
6) Very accessible resort - the pools had lift chairs, the beach was reachable with some help

Cons:

1) Restaurant menu could have more diverse options
2) The transfer bench in the handicap room would be more useful if it was strategically placed and if the hand shower was reachable
3) The renovation work caused some noise in the early mornings, kind of forced me out of bed for a relaxing vacation week. Also being closer to the airport, there was the sound of the air planes every now and then

"Hats off to Julio at Papaya, and all the other staff who made our stay fabulous! Pool and beach staff were attentive, extremely courteous and pleasant. Always a smile and positive attitude. Thanks, Maria, our housekeeper who made sure we had plenty of towels, kept the room clean and stocked with the necessary amenities. Our stay from Tuesday night through Sunday afternoon was relaxing, fun and memorable. I know I will return!"

"The service was fantastic and the room was beautiful and brand new!! The lobby is under construction and is definitely in need of an upgrade. The pool is really nice and clean with a brand new wood tile deck. Gym room is decent and does the job. Really caring staff!!
The pool area is great. Nice beach front area with lounge chairs.
Overall, a great hotel at a great price for what you get. Great location. You definitely won't be sorry you chose this hotel."

"Visited this resort as an early birthday treat to myself early November. Even though The forecast called for rain the 5 days I was there I saw rain once for about 30 minutes.

Check in: the lobby is under construction as stated before so there's a makeshift desk. There was no wait and the girl at the counter got me into a pretty nice room it wasn't ocean front but I was on the 9th or 10th floor, away from the construction noise, no complaints here

Room: no complaints it was a remodeled room with a balcony and a basic patio set with 2 chairs and refrigerator/microwave. Beds were comfortable and housekeeping came daily, sometimes too early but they came

Restaurants: technically there's 2 restaurants and then mini bars they try to play as restaurants but the food is very bland. For food there are a lot of restaurants a few blocks down if you have a car. You could walk but it would be about 15 minutes to get anywhere good unless you find something at the local Walgreens or Denny's that's about 2 blocks away from the hotel

Beach: beautiful beach. Complimentary beach chairs, umbrellas and towels which I liked. The service around the entire resort is very slow, not like I had anywhere to be at the time but still, they're awfully slow. Not sure if it's the laid back island life or what, I digress...

Many guests were older (45+, I'm in my mid 20s) and or with their families, not complaining as I wanted a true vacation feel and didn't want to deal with the nightlife and club goers this go round. I would stay here again because it is very close to the airport, I didn't even mind the plane noise after a while you get used to it and I had a room facing the ocean view.
But perhaps for my 2nd trip to PR I will stay on Conando(spelling?) beach hotels that side of the island seemed a little more alive at night many more people walking around at night and I noticed lots of people working out and jogging."

"We just returned from a 5 day visit to the Marriott Isla Verde Beach Resort. From the wonderfully service oriented Liana in the Concierge's Office, to Edwin by the pool, to the warm, friendly, helpful and professional casino card dealer Brenda :), the hotel experience could not have been better. We dined in the outdoor restaurant overlooking the ocean and had 3 outstanding dinners with excellent food and service. The renovations currently underway at the hotel had no impact whatsoever on our stay. We can't wait to return to this hotel. Great friendly staff made it enjoyable and the beach location was simply fantastic. No need to rent a car being one mile from the airport and the planes taking off from the airport don't impact your enjoyment of this beautiful property."

Room Tip: Get a full ocean view, it's worth it!!!

"My wife and I stayed at the Courtyard Marriott Isla Verde for 5 nights on our first vacation to Puerto Rico. We had a wonderful stay at the Courtyard. This hotel is conveniently located near the airport, the hotel staff were very friendly and always willing to assist their guests, and the Beach and Pool Areas were AWESOME. My wife and I truly loved every minute of the beach. Yes, the hotel lobby is under construction, but this temporary condition should not be a problem for most guests. The rooms are remodeled and are very nice. There is a good variety of choices for dining at the hotel from casual meals to more upscale selections. There is a casino in the lobby of the hotel, which offers 24 hour access. The hotel concierge was very helpful with travel tips and recommended an excellent restaurant in old San Juan (Barrachina). Overall, I give the Courtyard Marriott an excellent rating due to its location, staff, service, and of course the Beach & Pool areas. I would highly recommend staying at the Courtyard Marriott Isla Verde. Thank you for a great vacation in Puerto Rico."
